About

The University of Alicante (UA) is a public institution founded in 1979, with a solid trajectory in teaching, research and innovation across fields such as engineering, science, communication, economics and the humanities. According to its official institutional report, the university enrolled 22,445 undergraduate students in the 2024–2025 academic year, in addition to offering a wide range of master’s degrees and doctoral programmes.
The university carries out its academic and research activities through faculties, schools and specialised institutes that bring together teams with extensive experience in European projects, knowledge transfer and international cooperation. The UA maintains mobility and collaboration agreements with numerous higher education institutions across Europe and other regions of the world, and it participates actively in programmes such as Erasmus+ and Horizon Europe.
The institution stands out for its strong commitment to equal opportunities in STEM, particularly through the School of Engineering (EPS), which has led the “Quiero Ser Ingeniera” initiative since 2019. This programme offers workshops, outreach activities and educational resources aimed at girls, teachers and families, fostering interest in engineering from an early age.
Within STEM Girls: Path to Success in Engineering, the University of Alicante serves as the coordinating institution, responsible for overall management, quality assurance and communication and awareness-raising activities at the European level. Its consolidated experience provides a solid foundation for its role within the project.
